Editorial Policy
This page explains how Soap Gold creates its content and the standards we hold it to.
What we publish
Soap heritage features about Emmerdale and Coronation Street: classic storylines retold in full, on-this-day anniversaries, profiles of iconic characters and the actors who played them, milestone celebrations, and guides to the famous sets, villages and locations.
Sourcing
Every feature is checked against at least two sources wherever the record allows: the original broadcasts themselves, published episode listings and synopses, and interviews given by cast and producers. We name the type of source in the article so you can judge how solid a detail is.
Memory and theories
Much of soap history lives in fans’ memories, and memories differ. Where a detail comes from recollection rather than the record, we label it as remembered, not verified. Fan theories are always labelled as theories. We never present a theory, a rumour or our own speculation as fact, and we never fabricate storylines, quotes or dates.
Independence
Our coverage reflects our own honest judgement as fans and writers. Advertising funds the Site but never buys coverage, and we do not publish paid or sponsored content disguised as editorial. Any commercial relationship would be disclosed clearly.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it promptly and, where the error was material, note the correction in the article. Report an error via the Contact page.
Images
Our brand artwork is original. We do not lift publicity stills or screenshots and pass them off as our own.
